Important Information Regarding the "Drug-Free Safety Program"

Recently, The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation recently released new information regarding the implementation of aspects of the new "Drug-Free Safety Program" (DFSP). The changes to the training requirements and timelines are as follow:

Online Accident Analysis Training

The on-line accident analysis training is available on BWC’s Learning Management System (Learning Center).  Instructions for taking this course are included below.

How to enroll

  1. Go to www.bwclearningcenter.com and log into your account. If the employer does not have an account, they can set one up right then online, or they can call the phone numbers below for personal assistance.
  2. Click on Learning Center.
  3. Click on Course Information & Enrollment.
  4. Search by keyword, entering "accident analysis" . Click Search.
  5. There will be a course called "Accident Analysis for DFSP - online". Click that icon.
  6. Click Take Course.

(Because of the size of this file, it may take a few minutes to completely download).

Timelines and deadlines (for this initial rollout period only) have been extended and are as follows:

  • Accident Analysis training extended to 90-days
  • Safety Review will be released on July 13th and deadline for submission extended to end of August.
  • Action Plan will be released on August 10th and deadline extended to end of September
  • Accident Report will be released on August 10th. Asking employers to wait until then to complete any accident reports so they can be done online, but they still have to report any claims that occurred during the July 1 – August 10 time period.
